Before activating your pay per click advertising campaigns, it’s important to set up effective tracking to measure online conversions.

Online conversion tracking is how you will measure success of each individual keyword and the overall profitability of your campaigns, so you can identify the best pay per click opportunities for your site. Here’s what you need to do.

The first step is to identify the main goal of your site – or, in other words, your main online conversion.

Your main conversion could be as simple as a:

  • page view
  • download of a document
  • completed quote form
  • purchase

You may even set up pay per click advertising that has a primary goal and a secondary goal; in other words, you may have multiple online conversions.
