Looking for how to define HTML, HyperText Markup Language and Hyperlinks? Learn the definition of these words and other search marketing terms that start with the letter H.

Header Tags : standard HTML tags, such as <h1> and <h2>, that highlight important text for the search engines; appropriately using header tags on your web site is considered good practice, while overusing them may cause the search engines to discount the relevancy of text found on the web pages.

Hidden Text : web site text that cannot be seen by humans, but is visible to search engines. Tricks such as using the same background color for the text color can be used to obtain this effect. Search engines consider hidden text to be spam and may penalize or even ban sites that use this technique.

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) : language used to create and format web site content.

Hyperlinks (Links) : text marked up with HTML so that, when clicked, the site visitor is taken to a pre-determined location on the same web site or to another web site.
